An air ambulance has been called out to an Eltham after a teenage boy was badly injured in a hit-and-run. 

Police were called to Newmarket Green, next to Middle Park Avenue, after the 14-year-old boy was hit by a car today (December 2) at 11.14am.

The boy is said to have been riding an e-bike at the time of the crash.

Emergency services rushed to the scene., including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.

London Ambulance Service also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

The boy has been taken to hospital with potentially life-changing leg injuries.

The driver did not stop at the scene and police are searching for them.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 11:14hrs on Monday, 2 December, to a car in collision with a boy riding an e-bike in Newmarket Green, SE9.

“Officers attended along with ambulance colleagues.

“The 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing leg injuries.

“The car did not stop at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the vehicle and driver.

“There has been no arrest at this stage.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.08am today (2 December) to reports of a road traffic collision on Newmarket Green, SE9.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a teenager at the scene and took them to hospital.”
