A winter toy appeal that gives presents to children facing hardship at Christmas is appealing for donations.
The Local Buyers Club, along with Location Location estate agency, is calling on Haringey residents and businesses to support its Winter Toy Appeal.
The initiative provides gifts to more than 5,000 children across North and East London each year.
Now in its 11th year, the appeal has donated over 34,000 toys since its launch in 2014, with Haringey among the agencies distributing gifts to children in need.
Jenna Fansa, co-founder of the Local Buyers Club, said: "The cost-of-living crisis means many more families in London are going hungry – many simply cannot afford to buy gifts at Christmas.
"We’re urging anyone who can to buy a new toy or donate funds to ensure every child has a special gift to open."
Donations, which can be made via the Haringey Wish List on Amazon, in person at Soup Dragon in Crouch End, or at participating libraries, must be received by December 16.
Money raised via the appeal’s GoFundMe page is spent directly with independent toy shops in London.
Businesses, residents, and supporters are encouraged to spend around £15 on a gift, which for many children, will be the only toy they receive at Christmas.
