The spirit of the season shone brightly as choirs sang and a brass band played for a Christmas lights switch-on.

The Lighting Up Kentish Town Road event took place on Saturday (November 31), organised by pressure group Kentish Town Road Action.

Christiyvie Lambu, a 15-year-old from Camden School for Girls and a Camden Youth Brass Band drummer, plugged in the wire to light up the tree.

X Factor finalist Natasha Boon of Natasha’s Flowers sang Santa Baby and was later joined on stage with friends for an upbeat version of Bob Marley's Three Little Birds.

Natasha Boon said: “I love selling my flowers at the Canopy, getting to know my punters and being part of Lighting Up each year."

Kentish Town North councillor James Slater said: "Thank you to everyone who works so hard to organise these festivities each year, bringing our community together and lighting up our High Street."
