A politician has spoken to an environmental group about the Mayor of London’s record on green issues.
Lewisham Councillor Darren Johnson, who represents the Green Party in the London Assembly, gave Mayor Boris Johnson three out of ten on environmental issues, in a talk called How green is Mayor Boris? at a Bromley Friends of the Earth meeting.
He praised the Mayor’s initiatives to encourage cycling, allotments and tree planting but said he needed to get tough on developments which are not environmentally friendly.
Cllr Johnson said the Mayor’s opposition to a third runway at Heathrow but support for a new airport in the Thames estuary and the expansion of London City Airport, showed a lack of understanding of environmental issues.
