Residents of a Booker street where a 16-year-old girl was raped on Halloween tonight spoke of their shock.
Householders in Alford Road said they were stunned by the attack, which happened between 10pm and 11.30pm.
One said: “I am absolutely disgusted. I have lived on this estate since it was built 30 odd years ago. It is terrible.
“It is lunacy – you can’t walk here or there these days without anything happening.”
Dad-of-two Gordon Anning, 62, said: “You read about it in the papers but you don’t expect it to happen where you are.
“We have been here 33 years and this is the first time we have heard anything like this.
“It is crazy. That is society at the moment isn’t it?”
Another said: “I have never heard of a rape here before. There is always incidents around here, mostly stealing.”
One mum said: “It is horrific. It is really scary. We thought it was safe down here.
“I don’t let my children out. You don’t know who to trust.”
Police today released details of the attack.
The man is described as white, approximately 5ft8ins, of medium build and aged between 18 to 19.
He was wearing dark blue jeans and a dark hooded top.
Officers released an e-fit and are keen to speak to anyone who saw a black Volkswagen Polo with “unusual black and cream bucket style seats” in the area at the time.
