A million pounds is expected to be fetched for a former home of football star David Beckham.

A humble three-bedroomed terraced home in Leytonstone is being sold online, with a price tag of £850,000 - but the owners believe it could be sold for more after receiving interest from around the globe.

Similar houses in the area are on sale for just a third of the price, at under £300,000.

The sellers claim that it the first house that the football star lived in after he was born, before his family moved to Chingford.

Colin Evans, who is selling the house for the owners, said: “I know it was his house because I did some research and found the address listed on his birth certificate. He lived there when he was first born, it was his first home.

“I told the owners and at first they didn’t believe me. But when I took the documentation they wanted to party.”

He added: “Then they came back to me and asked me to sell it for them. Maybe Beckham will want to buy it for sentimental value.”

Mr Evans is expecting a bidding war because of the strong interest internationally in Beckham paraphernalia.

“To look at it, it looks like a humble house, but when you think about who has been in there I understand why it might go for that kind of money.

"It is the brand Beckham selling it.”
