The man found dead in a driveway in Downley yesterday had multiple stab wounds to his neck, police said this evening.
A post-mortem examination showed the man died of haemorrhaging as a result of his wounds.
But police have not confirmed a murder investigation has been launched.
The man, believed to be in his thirties, was found slumped in the driveway of a property in Telford Way by a homeowner at 8am yesterday morning.
Senior investigating officer DCI Mick Saunders said: “We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and at the moment cannot say for sure whether there was third party involvement in the death or not.”
The man's identity is still unknown, but police have tonight issued a description of him.
When he was found the man was wearing dark grey jogging bottoms, a light coloured fleece top with stripes on the arms, a black beanie hat and white trainers.
He is described as black, with a slight beard at the point of his chin.
Part of Telford Way remained cordoned off until the late afternoon today while police continued to investigate the incident, although the road has now fully re-opened.
And officers have reiterated it is “crucial” for anyone with information to contact them.
Witnesses or anyone with information should contact High Wycombe police station on 08458 505 505, quoting unique reference number 653 of 15/11.
