An offer of £1million has been made for the former home of soccer star David Beckham, claims the man selling the property at four times its market value.
The unnamed Australian Beckham fan allegedly made the bid after the three-bedroom house in Leytonstone was put up for sale on the internet for £850,000.
Similiar houses in the area are on sale for a third of the price, at under £300,000.
The sellers claim that it was the first house that the former England captain lived in after he was born in 1975, before his family moved to Chingford in 1977.
Colin Evans, who is selling the home for the owner, told the Press Association he had a couple of concrete offers for the property in Norman Road, including one from the Australian for £1million.
He added: "To look at it, it looks like a humble house, but when you think about who has been in there I understand why it might go for that kind of money.
"It is the brand Beckham selling it.”
Mr Evans said: "I know it was his house because I did some research and found the address listed on his birth certificate. He lived there when he was first born, it was his first home.
“I told the owners and at first they didn’t believe me. But when I took the documentation they wanted to party. Then they came back to me and asked me to sell it for them. Maybe Beckham will want to buy it for sentimental value."
The advert on the Gumtree website says: “A three-bedroom House with bathroom and toilet and garden in Leytonstone. This house is footballer David Beckham’s first house, where he lived before moving to Chingford.
"The lounge has wood flooring looking onto the french windows and the garden, with a fitted kitchen at the back of this lovely town house.”
