The Liberal Democrats have selected their candidate to fight an upcoming by-election.
Local resident Alan Prue has been chosen to fight for the Northwood seat on Hillingdon Council, following on from years of work for community groups.
He has been a leading member of Northwood Residents' Association for the last ten years, including six as chairman, offering expertise on planning matters to residents.
Mr Prue is a volunteer worker at Northwood Police Station, and has promised to put the views of residents in the ward first.
Councillor Mike Cox, leader of the Lib Dems on the council, welcomed Mr Prue's nomination, saying: “Alan would be an enormous asset on Hillingdon Council and irrespective of politics he would be a great champion for Northwood."
The by-election was called in the wake of the resignation of Ian Oakley following his conviction for conducting a hate campaign against Lib Dems.
Tory Oakley admitted carrying out a string of attacks against the homes of his rivals and stepped down from his seat in August, sparking the by-election to be held on Thursday, December 11.
