A double murder investigation has been launched after a son discovered the bodies of his parents stabbed to death in their Clapham flat.
The young man found his 53-year-old father and his 47-year-old mother in their ground floor flat in Croxteth House, minutes from Wandsworth Road station, on Thursday.
Police were called just before 1am to the flat which faces directly on to the central square within the estate.
The London Ambulance Service attended and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Hakim el Mansouri, a neighbour, said: “It’s really bizarre, no one seems to have seen or heard anything.
“I live in a block on the other side of the estate and have friends who live in Croxteth House but they were totally unaware there had been a murder.”
Police have appealed for witnesses who may have been in the area on Wednesday and an incident room was set up by officers from Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
Police had taped off the windows of the flat with dustbin bags yesterday.
A police tent had also been setup in the front garden outside the family's flat.
Post mortem examinations will take place in due course and no arrests have been made.
DCI Steve Lawrence, leading the investigation, said: "If you heard or saw anything suspicious in the vicinity, please get in touch with us, or call Crimestoppers anonymously."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 7321 9251 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
