A determined pensioner is preparing to give up the safety and comfort of South woodford for the jungles of Cambodia where he will help build new homes for the victims of landmines.
David Reekie, of Buckingham Road, is trying to raise the £3,000 he needs to travel to the South East Asian country where he will work alongside other volunteers for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), a charity which supports ordinance clearance projects worldwide.
The 68 year-old will also trek 40km through remote Siem Reap province as part of the project which is due to begin early in the new year.
