The father of a teenager beaten to death in a West Ealing park said his family were heartbroken by his murder.

Fuad Buraleh was murdered by Myles Cadogan, 24, who recruited his friends to hunt him down and then beat the 19-year-old over the head with a bottle.

Ahmed Buraleh, Fuad's father, said: “Fuad had a promising and happy life in front of him.

“We have escaped from the war-torn land of Somalia. We came to the UK to seek a civilised society - instead we find ourselves among people who seek out victims to attack.”

Mr Buraleh, a devout Muslim, brought his family to UK, and has been keeping relatives informed of the case since the murder in January.

Fuad was chased into the park after spitting on a bus following a night out which led to a row between him and Myles Cadogan's 67-year-old father Carl.

Referring to the spitting incident, Mr Buraleh said: “I am not proud of my son for doing this or his behaviour overall on the bus that night.

“My son deserved to be corrected but to call upon people and him to be set upon causing injuries can only be called barbaric.

“Fuad's death has left a great void in all our lives.”

Myles Cadogan was found guilty of the murder of Fuad on Wednesday, and five men including Carl Cadogan were all found guilty of violent disorder, but cleared of murder and manslaughter.
