The aircraft carrier Ark Royal will sail through the Thames Barrier today, on a six day visit to London.
The 20,000 tonnes vessel will be moored at Greenwich Dock for a variety of events tied to a publicity drive for the navy's Sea Cadet programme.
The navy is looking for more young people to join the 15,000 who are already part of the cadets.
Ark Royal, which began service in 1985, is due to come through the flood barrier later today and should be moored at Greenwich by about 4.30.
The ship will host a reception for the Princess Royal, along with the launch of the book 'Blind Eye', which is based on a Royal Navy aircraft carrier.
