A two-week-old girl died has died of head injuries after being thrown into a canal in Feltham.
The baby's body was discovered early last Friday morning after police officers were called to Hatton Road.
She was rushed to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey but was pronounced dead shortly before 10am.
A woman in her 30s was arrested near the scene under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital. As the Hounslow Guardian went to press she remained under assessment.
A post mortem carried out on Saturday showed the casue of death to be head injuries.
Meanwhile a murder hunt is underway after a man in his 40s was found stabbed to death at a house in Fawns Manor Close, Feltham on Monday.
Officers were called to the property after a concerned friend reported the man had not been seen for some time.
A post mortem at Fulham mortuary revealed the victim had received multiple stab and incised wounds to the neck and chest.
An incident room has opened at Sutton under DCI Stuart Cundy, of the Specialist Crime Directorate.
He said: "The exact circumstances are unclear at this stage, however it appears he received the wounds at some point over the past week to ten days.
"It appears his body was left alone in the house until being discovered on Monday after a worried friend contacted police."
