POLICE are appealing for the public's help in tracking the movements of a tipper van they believe was used in a fatal hit-and-run accident.
A 29-year-old man from south London was arrested and questioned by police about the accident in Hatherley Road, Sidcup, before being released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Hazel Griffin, aged 22, from Swanley, was hit as she was getting out of a Renault Clio car, just after 9pm on March 15.
The vehicle, a white Ford tipper van, which may have been carrying fence panels, did not stop and carried on up Hatherley Road towards Sidcup High Street.
Miss Griffin, who worked as an administrative clerk at a Sidcup insurance company, had been on a monthly night out with work colleagues to the cinema and for a meal.
She was rushed to nearby Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, where she died at about 1.30am.
A post-mortem examination carried out at the hospital revealed she had died from multiple injuries.
Miss Griffin's boyfriend and her family and friends say they have been devastated by her death.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the van hit Miss Griffin in Hatherley Road, to contact them.
They would also like to hear from anyone who saw the van, registration number N434 EAT, at anytime during the day of the accident on March 15.
Police found the van abandoned in Robert Close, St Mary Cray, on March 16. Police want witnesses who saw it being left to call the collision investigation unit on 020 8285 1574 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
