"All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players" a famous quote from "As You Like it" by William Shakespeare that The Globe theatre is taking literally as part of the Bard's birthday celebrations next month.
On Saturday, April 23, for just one day, the wings to the Globe stage will be opened allowing visitors to be actors and to play any part from a Shakespeare play.
Members of the public will be able to perform their favorite lines from Shakespeare. Guests will be able to realise what it feels like to tread the boards of this extraordinary historic venue, and professional advice on performing Shakespeare will be provided by Globe actors every hour.
In honor of Shakespeare's 441st birthday there will be many different activities for all the family, including a range of games, tours and performances. The festivities will involve specially devised side-shows, period and modern music and traditional party food will.
Doors open at 9.30am.
