A MAN has been jailed for six and half years after he was caught with a gun that fires 1000 rounds a minute.
Police found the Mach-10 machine gun and ammunition at the Harlesden home of an associate of Darren Mathurin in September last year.
After further investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Operation Trident, including the use of forensic evidence, officers identified Mathurin as the owner.
The 25-year-old was arrested two months later.
He was found guilty at Harrow Crown Court on Monday of possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Detective Chief Inspector Harry Hennigan said: "We have been able to remove an individual with access to an extremely dangerous weapon from the streets.
"The gun and the ammunition would have had serious consequences should it ever have been used.
"Operation Trident continues to work towards making communities safer by removing individuals and firearms from the street."
On Tuesday Clovette Spencer, 30, was found not guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.
