With only a month left until Christmas, Londoners are being urged to post their festive cards in good time, rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Royal Mail figures suggest 750 million Christmas cards will be posted this year and consumers can save money by posting second class.

The price of a second class stamp is 32p, and for a first class stamp is 41p. This year’s Christmas stamps feature animated characters, Wallace and Gromit.

For larger letters and parcels, you can find out prices by entering details about the size and weight of the package on the Royal Mail website, or by visiting your local post office.

Last posting dates:

  • For standard parcels, the last recommended posting date is Wednesday, 15 December
  • For second class post, Royal Mail recommends you send your mail by Saturday, 18 December
  • For first class mail, you should send your post by Tuesday, 21 December

If you wish to send post to friends or family who are serving in the armed forces abroad, the British Forces Post Office or BFPO service charges you at the UK standard rate and there is no need for an airmail sticker.

Prepaid Forces Airletters (known as blueys) are available from post offices, or to find out about e-blueys, visit the BFPO website.
