THE funeral of a graduate killed in a plane crash while trying to conquer her fear of heights has been held.

More than 300 mourners joined the family of Victoria Delacroix at a service at Beckenham Crematorium on Friday.

Air cadets from the 22-year-old's former unit in Penge formed a guard of honour.

Victoria's mother Susan Delacroix says the service was "wonderful" and a "fitting tribute" to the former Cator Park School for Girls' pupil.

Although no hymns were sung, three poems were read out and the service was completed with the song You're Beautiful by James Blunt.

Mrs Delacroix revealed last week that she has been in contact with American law firms regarding compensation.

Victoria was preparing to skydive in the US state of Missouri when an engine on the light aircraft exploded shortly after take-off.

The plane was sent spinning into an electricity pylon before plummeting to the ground.

Five other people were killed in the accident.

Mrs Delacroix, of Blandford Road, Beckenham, says she has spoken to several lawyers who are looking at launching a lawsuit on behalf of the affected families.

Speaking this morning, she said: "It's in the hands of the lawyers now and they say it could take a couple of years to come up."

An inquest will only be held here once US investigators have finished their probe of the July 29 accident.

Volunteers at the summer camp where Victoria was working with disabled children and adults held their own memorial service on Friday.

They planted a tree and placed stones around it dedicated to the six people who were killed in the accident.
