West Country born singer/songwriter Seth Lakeman is rapidly rising up from the underground and here's your chance to experience first-hand his prodigious talent.
To celebrate the re-release of his third solo album 'Freedom Fields' on 21st August, This Is Local London has a pair of tickets to see Lakeman live at Scala and copies of his albums to give away.
'Freedom Fields' was originally recorded in the kitchen of his brother's cottage on Dartmoor and is a testament to Seth's raw talent, unfettered musicianship and far-sighted DIY determination. It also showcases his ability to blend folk influences with classic songwriting.
Now featuring re-recorded tracks, including a re-worked version of future single 'The White Hare', the forthcoming release heralds an opportunity to experience this extraordinary and compelling talent. Like its predecessor, (the acclaimed Mercury-nominated Kitty Jay), the album takes much of its inspiration from Seth's beloved West Country, its folk roots shoot through with a contemporary energy, vivid melodies and striking lyrical imagery.
Lead single 'Lady of the Sea' (7 August) is a soaring, self-penned tale of love and loss, sung with captivating intensity and power that firmly sets Seth apart from his contemporaries. Its rhythmic edge, so rarely found in the armoury of a singer songwriter, helps make it both visceral and poignant.
