A funeral for a man who died after being attacked in a pub garden will be held tomorrow, on what would have been his 30th birthday.
Daniel Corroyer, who grew up in Acacia Road, Mitcham, died in hospital after the assault at a Barnet pub.
His mother, Tina Alchin, said: "It will be a celebration of Daniel's life. All friends are welcome and black tie is not necessary."
Mrs Alchin, 50, has spoken of her devastation at the incident, which has robbed her of her only son.
She said: "It's a huge shock, especially considering the way he died. It's not the sort of thing a mother wants to hear about. We've lost a very nice young man in his prime."
A former student at Eastfields High School, Daniel lived with his family in Mitcham for 20 years before moving to North London in 2000.
Described by his mother as "a very hard-working jack of all trades", Daniel worked as a motocycle mechanic, ceiling fixer, landscaper, floor layer and barman.
Mrs Alchin added: "He was totally unreliable. He wouldn't get out of bed for love nor money, but when he did he worked very hard."
Daniel was very close to his family. He had one sister, Samantha, and was overjoyed at the birth of his two nephews - the youngest was born just six weeks before Daniel died.
"He had two very different sides to him," Mrs Alchin said. "He loved clubbing and was known for his moves on the dance floor. He also had a very serious, intelligent side. He had a huge general knowledge and was always wanted on the quiz team."
Daniel was attacked in the Albion pub, Union Street, Barnet, on Saturday, July 22. He was taken to Barnet Hospital suffering serious head and nose injuries and later taken to the Royal Free Hospital, but died on Monday, July 24.
"We want to thank the emergency services, pub landlord and the nurse at the scene who tried to resuscitate him, and the staff at the intensive care unit at Barnet General," said Mrs Alchin.
His funeral will take place at New Southgate Crematorium, Brunswick Park Road. The family has requested for any donations to be made to Great Ormond Street Hospital and should be sent via the funeral directors. Contact Leverton and Sons, 212 Eversholt Street, London, NW1 1BD, or call 020 7387 6075.
n A 17-year-old boy was charged with Daniel's murder on July 24. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared before Barnet Youth Court and has been remanded to re-appear on September 1.
A 19-year-old man who was arrested on Sunday, July 23, was released without charge.
Anyone with information about the attack should contact the Special Crime Directorate on 020 7321 7228.
