A 18-year-old entrepreneur has composed and produced a comedy song about the hosepipe ban.

Robert Davies who set up his own record company last year - Click Recordz Productions - has just released the seasonal tune, The Nosey Neighbours and the Hose Pipe Ban.

Robert, from Oxshott, who wrote the lyrics and music in his bedroom with his sister, Lisa-Marie, 23, said: "The song is based on our experiences with former neighbours, who always wanted to know what we were up to.

"I suggested including the hosepipe ban because it is something I feel strongly about."

Thames Water and Sussex and East Surrey Water have both introduced drought orders in the Kingston and Elmbridge areas, depriving thousands of the opportunity to water their gardens using a hosepipe.

Robert said: "I just cannot understand why we have a water shortage in a country where it rains so much.

Similarly, how water company profits continue to rise when billions of litres of water are wasted every day through leaking pipes.

"The song is a comic take on people who still want to water their flowers and lawns, but are afraid of doing so, because of the risk of being reported by nosey neighbours.

"It shows my sense of humour and confirms my belief that music can be used to communicate all types of messages."

Robert, who is starting his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Guildford, next month, has produced artistes from various genres including hip-hop, rock and blues.

He added: "I have always liked creating music and wanted to work with musicians.

"Three years ago, my drumming teacher at Esher College, advised me to do it myself and set up my own label."

Robert showcased some of his musicians and singers at the Princes Trust fashion show at Kingston's Oceana nightclub in June.
