Two travel consultants have been charged over an alleged internet holiday scam that may have conned thousands out of both their summer breaks and their money.

Evangela Liogka, 38, and Christakis Philippou, 62, are accused of selling cheap holidays on at least five websites, but then failing to book flights and hotels.

The arrests follow an inquiry by the Met's fraud detectives into the Islington-based firm Fleetwood Holidays Ltd, which also traded as Sun Orient Ltd.

The company shut its north London offices at 137-149 Goswell Road nine days ago and left no forwarding address.

Police earlier named five websites allegedly linked to the case:

  • sunmedresorts.com
  • unbeatableholidays.com
  • holidaysforunder200pounds.com
  • holidayrez.com
  • holidayez.com

The suspects, arrested at the weekend, were due at Westminster magistrate's court today charged with conspiracy to defraud.

Both live in some of the most expensive areas in central London - Liogka in Knightsbridge and Philippou in Bayswater.
