COUNCILLORS are hoping a new map showing west London locations used in Hollywood films will draw tourists to the borough.

Some of Hollywood's best-known films feature west London locations as their backdrop. Now a new map drawn up by officers at Ealing Council set to go on sale in cinemas and libraries across the whole of west London, showing exact location and details of sites for people to visit.

Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Brent and Harrow have all had the touch of tinsletown, and with west London the home of the BBC and Ealing Studios, its pedigree in terms of film and entertainment is recognised worldwide.

Cllr Brian Castle, cabinet member for regeneration and economic development at Ealing Council, said: "The map is an innovative way of attracting tourism to Ealing by tapping into the thriving film market that we have here and on our West London doorstep.

"Many of our residents may not know that films such as The Importance of Being Earnest, About A Boy and Love Actually include scenes shot in Ealing. I hope they will use the film map to explore the many wonderful locations that have been used."

Tourism is worth hundreds of millions to the economy of west London and with one in five visitors inspired to holiday in Britain because of a film they have seen, it is hoped this map will increase the numbers of visitors to the area.
