POLICE are expected to get more time to question most of the 11 suspects arrested over the alleged plot to blow up transatlantic airliners.

Sky News this afternoon reported that one of the suspects was expected to be released this evening, while police would ask for more time to quiz the remaining 10.

A Met police spokesman said all 11 suspects remained in custody. "No one has been released at this time," he said.

Meanwhile, officers from the Met and Thames Valley police cordoned off an area of woodland in the Booker area of High Wycombe.

At about 11.30am this morning, a van load of police arrived at the scene and roped off a section of Sunters Wood, either side of Lane End Road, and teams of officers have now begun a search.

Police would not confirm whether the operation was linked to the recent anti-terror raids and search of King's Wood in Totteridge.

In total, the suspects can be held without charge until September 7.

On Tuesday, those charged were taken from the high security Paddington Green police station to the City of Westminster magistrate's court in separate vans with blacked out windows.

Eight of the suspects - including Muslim convert Brian Young, a High Wycombe man who was brought up Christian - were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and preparing acts of terrorism.

They denied the charges against them and were remanded in custody until September 4 when they will appear at the Old Bailey.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the charges related to an alleged plot to "manufacture and smuggle the component parts of improvised explosive devices onto aircraft and assemble and detonate them on board".

Two were accused of failing to disclose information, including Cossar Ali, 23, the mother of an eight-month-old baby. The pair were remanded until September 19.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with possessing articles useful to a person preparing acts of terrorism. According to his charge sheet, these "articles" allegedly include a book on bombs, suicide notes and the wills of people prepared to commit terrorist acts.
