Warehouse Theatre's new season kicks off on Friday, September 8, with the pick of this month's (August) Edinburgh Fringe Festival - No Obvious Trauma, by the critically acclaimed company Unpacked.
No Obvious Trauma, which will run until Sunday, September 24, mixes new writing, ensemble acting and visual theatre in a gripping combination of detective story and classic romance.
It tells the story of how a doctor is haunted by the memory of a lost love affair as he cares for patients in an isolated psychiatric institution in 1932.
When a new patient arrives with little more than a name tag, a tattered ribbon and is unable to speak, mistaken identity, nostalgia and confusion lead to a fragile love affair.
This highly entertaining mystery is inspired by Freud's ideas on hysteria and repressed memory, and is a vibrant mix of storytelling and energetic choreography.
The five core members of the company met and trained at Central School of Speech and Drama and come from varied performance backgrounds.
Their debut performance, The Fourth Violin from the Left, won the company international acclaim and best actor and actress nominations for Gilbert Taylor and Zo Hunter at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2005.
While at the Warehouse Theatre, Unpacked will be leading workshops with local schools or anyone interested in exploring physical theatre.
Call the Warehouse box office on 020 8680 4060 or see the website warehousetheatre.co.uk for details. Tickets start at £12, but on Thursdays all tickets are priced at £6.50.
