YOU may remember Allison Moorer as the barn singer in Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer, but the Alabama gal is hardly a household name in the UK.
Like her sister, Shelby Lynne, Moorer is an old-school country star, reliant upon good old-fashioned story songs and good wholesome delivery in the tradition of Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline. Getting Somewhere is Moorer's sixth attempt to hit the big time and showcases ten self-penned solid tunes that are polished easy listening but fail to excite and delight.
Work To Do is up-front and enjoyable, and Getting Somewhere is indeed, very pleasant. But sadly, even with husband Steve Earle as producer, Moorer has yet to deliver that all-important killer single to capture the imagination of a non-partisan audience.
