P.DIDDY once labelled Mary J Blige the queen of hip-hop/soul'.
Mary J is certainly a contender for the title but, in terms of hip-hop, Missy Elliot reigns supreme.
The most prominent female artist in a genre dominated by men - Missy's revolutionary style and sound make this best of' collection a genuine treat. The album can be divided into two halves, firstly celebrating the smash hits that cemented her status with the 2001 release Miss ESo Addictive and the pop gems Get Ur Freak On, 4 My People and One Minute Man.
But it is the latter half of the album that is the most striking, as we are reminded of the birth of one of the most successful partnerships in music history.
Working with the pioneering producer Timbaland, 1997's The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly), Beep Me 911 and Sock It To Me show exactly what can be achieved when an artist is willing to break the mould.
