Anyone with a taste for adventure will find their fill at the Nissan Adventure Film Festival, which arrives at Vue cinemas across London this September.
Nissan - known for its exciting, pioneering range of 4x4s - will be keeping the spirit of adventure alive in September by sponsoring the UK's first digitally projected, nationwide Adventure Film Festival (AFF).
Running from 11 to 15 September at the Shepherds Bush, West End and Fulham Vue cinemas, the Nissan AFF will bring adventure films to the mainstream by screening a five-night programme of award-winning adventure films from the world's top adventure film producers. There will also be the chance to see some of the best films at Ultimate Adventure screenings at Vue cinemas in Islington, Croydon, Harrow, Acton and Finchley between 11 and 23 September. The festival will be the first time some of the films have been shown on the big screen.
Each of the five nights will have a different theme starting with Endurance Adventure night - documenting adventure travel with a twist, including the world's toughest endurance races and round-the-world adventure journeys from the producers of Long Way Round, starring Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.
This will be an exclusive screening of the director's cut of Long Way Round, featuring previously unseen footage and new interviews with the stars.
The Storm Force Adventure night offers top rating programming from National Geographic Channel such as Tornado Intercept, while Ocean Adventure night includes groundbreaking footage from free diving with sharks to surfing the world's largest waves.
High-Altitude Adventure night showcases the world's top exponents of skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering and base-jumping on a high-action adventure from the peaks of the world's highest mountains.
On-the-edge Adventure night brings adventure from the world's most remote and dangerous corners - featuring Bruce Parry, star of the recent BBC hit The Tribe. The films include jungle exploration in the unmapped interior of Papua New Guinea and the world's greatest free-climbers scaling dizzying heights.
As well as these fantastic films, each visitor will have the chance to win a £30,000 Nissan Pathfinder, an adventure holiday of a lifetime to Colorado, or one of many Columbia Sportswear jackets and National Geographic goodie bags.
"The hunger among our customers for 4x4 vehicles that can take them anywhere demonstrates the growing popularity of adventure travel, so this festival is perfectly timed to celebrate the most exciting adventures captured on film to date," said Nissan spokesman John Parslow.
"Nissan believes it takes a special frame of adventurous mind to seek out the places that dreams are made of and that's why we're proud to be the headline sponsors of the UK's first Nationwide Adventure Film Festival.
"The films give the adventurer in all of us a chance to witness outstanding feats of courage and daring in the most breathtaking but inhospitable landscapes."
In conjunction with the festival, we are giving away four National Geographic goodie bags of adventure items worth over £200. Each bag includes a Maglite torch, boomerang, thermos mug and plenty more for those looking for a taste of adventure.
Nissan heads the sponsor line-up, with other sponsors including National Geographic Channel, Columbia Sportswear, Colorado Ski Country, The Independent and Vue Cinemas.
