PARKSTONE session guru (and former Black Crowes guitarist) Paul Stacey has dipped into the Black Crowes vaults to remix the band's two lost albums - 1993's Tall and 1997's Band.
Early versions of songs that ended up on 1994's Amorica like A Conspiracy and Wiser Times capture the band in battle-hardened road mode.
Gritty, funky and low-slung, the tunes rattle out of them with a grace and barrelhouse panache that Guns N Roses could never muster.
The later songs are arguably more reflective and thoughtful, although Another Roadside Tragedy shows the Crowes had lost none of their southern fried boogie instincts.
Much of this is hardly classic Crowes but The Lost Crowes serves as an ample reminder of how good they can be.
