A 17-year-old Epsom student was killed instantly when her bicycle was involved in an accident with a lorry near her home on Friday.
Jenniffer Mugford was cycling to her work placement at Wallace Fields Infants School at about 9.10am when the accident happened at the junction of Hook Road and Chase Road, Epsom.
Jenniffer, who was a student at Nescot, studying childcare, was certified dead at the scene.
Roads in the surrounding area were closed until about 1.15pm for accident investigators to complete their work.
Her devastated family paid tribute to the young student, who was a committed Christian.
She and her sister Ceri both worked as leaders of the King's Church weekly clubs as well as running a summer holiday club.
She was about to take on the co-ordination of the church creche.
Her mother, Vicki Mugford, said: "She loved what she was doing. She left the house with a big smile on her face."
"What is striking is the sheer number of people who have been touched by Jenny's life. We knew Jenny had a wide circle of friends, but hadn't fully appreciated how well known she was.
"Jenny was a happy, outgoing girl, full of life and enthusiasm. She was never afraid to speak her mind and was incredibly caring about others."
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision, which involved the cyclist and a white and red coloured DAF truck.
In particular they wish to contact a lady who stopped her car, approached the scene and may have assisted the victim before police arrived. Anyone with information is urged to call the collision investigation unit on 01932 569922.
A service celebrating Jenniffer's life will be held at the King's Church, Longmead Road, Epsom, at 4pm on Friday, September 22.
The family have asked for donations instead of flowers, with all proceeds going to the charity Kingscare for children's work overseas.
