The headteacher of a Teddington school has expressed his delight after it picked up a computing prize last month.

St Mary’s and St Peter’s CE Primary School, in Somerset Road, has been awarded the ICT Mark by Becta - the British Education Communications and Technology Agency, the Government funded body responsible for promoting the use of ICT in Britain’s schools and colleges.

John Logan, headteacher said everyone at the school was delighted.

“This recognises the excellent ICT management and teaching that is taking place within the school and the benefits it is bringing to our children,” he added. “We believe that ICT can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential our children are equipped for the modern world.”

The school was awarded the mark - a national accreditation recognising schools’ achievements in reaching a standard of maturity in their use of technology - after an external assessment and just over 1,000 schools across the country have been acknowledged.

Neil McLean, executive director for educational practice at Becta, said St Mary’s & St Peter’s thoroughly deserved the accolade.
