Children at a Ham school got creative and decided to put their own spin on the first Qin Dynasty’s most famous legacy.
Every pupil from St Richard’s with St Andrew’s School created clay models of themselves in their version of the famous second century BC terracotta army statues.
The children worked in small groups with artist and sculptor Toni McGreachan, and were funded by the Parents and Friends of St Richard’s with St Andrew’s School Association.
Their work was unveiled on Wednesday, November 19, by Richmond Council’s director of education and children’s services, Nick Whitfield.
A spokesman for the school said: “Parents and children have been fascinated by the beauty and diversity of the sculptures.
“Each one has such character and individuality, just like the children.
“The display is housed in the entrance hall where it takes pride of place and is a great topic of conversation.”
