School children have been helping the environment by walking to school as part of a national campaign.
Forty schools from across Greenwich took part in the October Walk to School Month organised by road safety charity Living Streets.
With the support of Greenwich Council’s home and road safety team, pupils and parents joined the organised walking buses on the way to school.
The safety team also set up cycle training workshops and helped organise theatre education shows about sustainable travel.
St Joseph’s Primary School, Commerell Street, Greenwich, is continuing the scheme with its Walk on Wednesday initiative.
Headteacher Catherine Green said: “It is such a good idea.
“It helps keep people healthy, is less stressful than driving and is generally a very cheerful way of starting the day.”
