Buckinghamshire New University has signed a lease on a new site in Uxbridge, West London for its nursing students.
The students will transfer to the site in Oxford Road from September next year.
A statement from the university said: “The building is well situated for the University’s work with NHS London, and will enable employees and students to be closer to the clinical areas where students undertake their placements.
“The Uxbridge building is close to Uxbridge station, offering easy access to central London and the university’s High Wycombe campus.
“The University’s partnership agreement with IT giants HP and Cisco will ensure that employees and students are able to keep in touch with colleagues in High Wycombe through the most up-to-date technology, including a converged voice, video and data network.”
Dr Ruth Farwell, Vice Chancellor of Buckinghamshire New University, added: “The Uxbridge site will provide an ideal base for our nursing programmes as well as our applied research in health.
“Our undergraduate students will benefit from being closer to their placement providers and those undertaking professional programmes will be able to study closer to their workplace.
“We are delighted to have finalised the agreement, which marks a further milestone in the evolution of Bucks New University, and look forward to having a West London location from September 2009.
“Our new facilities there will be used to provide education for health professionals of the future, and so you could say it's giving everyone a new lease of life.”
