STUDENTS across Watford breathed a sigh of relief on Thursday morning when their A-Level results were revealed.
The figures for many schools have topped last year's achievements, with many recording pass rates matching or topping the national average of 99.6 per cent.
Some even recorded 100 per cent pass rates, and reported that the number of A grades had also risen.
At Merchant Taylors' School, in Moor Park, staff were delighted to find that pupils had achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for the fifth consecutive year and seven students notched up five A grades.
Stephen Wright, headteacher, said: "What is so pleasing is that student after student has exceeded even their own high expectations. Hard work, team spirit and inspirational teaching - they're an unmatchable combination."
Immanuel College, in Bushey, also recorded a 100 per cent pass rate, with an equally impressive 54 per cent A grade passes.
Philip Skelker, headteacher, said: "Once again through their hard work and their teachers' dedication, our pupils have gained excellent results that fulfil their potential. I am delighted with their achievement."
And at West Herts College's sixth form campus in Langley Road, Watford, the pass rate rose for the second successive year, hitting 96 per cent.
Elizabeth Rushton, West Herts College Principle, said: "These results are fantastic for our students and fantastic for the college. The students have all worked extremely hard to achieve such good results and their tutors have worked equally as tirelessly to help them reach their full potential."
