Bedfont U15’s reach next round of the cup
Eagles went into today's game against a familiar County Cup opponent in Brunswick. 2 years ago we played them away in terrible conditions, but today the sun was shining although a little bit breezy. We started on the front foot and looked in control, but either the final ball or the opponents toe, got in the way. Brunswick took their time to come into the tie, but as the half went on, their no. 10 & 11 were seeing more of the ball & starting create problems. Try as Bedfont tried, they could not seem to find the right pass in the final 3rd. But thankfully the 1st goal did fall to Eagles as Fabio directed his header goalwards, Yasen the poacher that he is, followed the ball & tapped it into the empty net. More of the same followed for the remainder of the half, but no further goals were added.
Half time
Eagles 1 Brunswick 0
Eagles were reminded at the break to do the simple things and to keep their shape. But after so much possession & chances Brunswick got the all important 1st goal of the 2nd half. The boys showed great character & determination to retake the lead, when Yasen, again put our noses in front, but again a lapse in concentration gifted Brunswick another equaliser. Now would eagles buckle or would they pick themselves up? Thankfully the new camaraderie in the side, would mean that Eagles would go on to score another 2 goals and put us through to next round. The scores were Fabio & Ryan.
