The Three Lions progress. Southgate's men topped group B, displaying their goal scoring prowess as they dismantled Iran (third place in group B) scoring six goals and scoring a triple against neighbours Wales. Scoring nine goals and only conceding two also puts positive spotlight on the strong defence featuring Shaw, Stones, Maguire, Trippier and Walker who started against Wales. Keeping clean sheets in two games showcasing Englands defensive soundness and solidity.
Next up for the Lions is Senegal, Afcon 2022 champions, (whom England have never crossed paths with on the international World Cup stage) in the round of sixteen tie on Sunday the 4th of December.
