With the South London & Kent Pool Alliance interleague teams going to the national finals this week, the top two divisions have a week off, so the league focus on divisions two and three this week.

Top played bottom in the second division, as Bell Ya Later hosted a patched-up Hurricanes Reborn, who had to sign Dean Chatfield and Toni-Marie Coy just to field a full team.

Arif Salih got Hurricanes off to great start in a high-quality frame against Reece Stewart.

The next two frames were shared and ended with mistakes that handed their opponents the frame, with Dean Chatfield benefitting for his first league victory.

Hurricanes’ Robyn Parlett played an excellent frame to open her account for the season and Captain, Kevin England made it a surprising, 4-1 lead.

Toni-Marie Coy had a baptism of fire against Angie Hobbs, both not doing much wrong however, Hobbs’ experience showed, pulling a frame back for Bell Ya Later, and they went onto win the next two frames to level the match at four all.

Parlett and Laura Chatfield won the next two vital frames to give Hurricanes a, 6-4 lead going into the last set.

Bell Ya Later battled back and won the first two frames of the third set to tie the match again however, Laura Chatfield and Salih won the next two frames to secure Hurricanes first win of the season against the current division leaders.

Hobbs took the last frame to make the final score, 8-7.

Given the circumstances it was a fantastic victory for Hurricanes and a great team performance, with three players winning two of their three frames, Salih, Laura Chatfield and player of the night, Parlett.

This result meant Bell Ya Later and Hurricanes left the top and bottom of the table with Bexleyheath Raiders and Sundridge Park Working Men’s Club replacing them respectively, after Raiders beat them this week.

The first two sets were incredibly close, going to a deciding frame, with Tony Hodsdon winning the first for Raiders and Sundridge Park’s Tony Savino the second to tie the match at five frames all.

Jeff Schofield nudged Raiders ahead with his hat-trick frame and Shelton D’Costa put Raiders on the hill, before Savino won his third frame of the night to prevent Raiders taking the match.

However, Raiders won the last two frames for a, 9-6 triumph to remain unbeaten.

With just one point between them, the middle two teams, Farmhouse and Blackheath Sports Club faced each other this week, and the match was just as close.

John Denahy opened the scoring for Farmhouse, but Blackheath won the remaining four frames of the set for a, 4-1 lead.

The opening frame of the second set also went to John Denahy and Steve Carpenter won the next frame to bring Farmhouse back to within one frame.

Joe Kane pushed Blackheath back into a two-frame lead, before Steven Jeffcoate won his only frame to take the second set for Farmhouse.

Glen Ward recorded his second frame of the night to remain unbeaten and put Blackheath, 6-4 ahead going into the last set however, Nick Brown and John Denahy, with his hat-trick frame tied the match.

Blackheath nudged themselves back into the lead, but Carpenter levelled the match again with his unbeaten brace.

Kane won his third frame of the night to win the deciding frame and give Blackheath the, 8-7 victory.

After this result, the two teams swapped places in the table, with both teams on 23 points, although Blackheath have one more victory.

Last week there was only five points separating the six teams and that is still the case this week.

Bellegrove Newbies were top of Division Three and travelled to White Hart hoping to continue their unbeaten run.

Newbies Captain, John Skuza got them off to a great start with the opening frame and they went onto win the first set, 3-2.

White Hart made two excellent clearances in the second set to help them win it, 3-2 and tie the match at five frames all.

Frame eleven went to White Hart, giving them the lead for the first time in the match, 6-5 however, Skuza led from the front, recording a brace to spark off four wins on the spin for a, 9-6 triumph.

It was a god all-round team performance, with Marc House, Josh Gardiner-Nutley and Nick Conquest all winning two of their three frames to complement Skuza’s unbeaten double.

Average Joes stay five points behind Newbies in second place, after their own, 9-6 triumph over Large Lakhars.

This was a topsy-turvy match, with Average Joes whitewashing the first set and Shahed Syed taking frame six to secure his unbeaten brace.

However, Large Lakhars won the remaining four frames of the second set and Guminder Nashad made it five in a row to put his team one frame behind.

The next wo frames were shared, before Glenn Reece went unbeaten with his second frame of the night to give Joes the match.

Large Lakhars drop to fifth after Plough & Harrow picked up their first victory of the season against bottom team Angerstein.

This was an even affair between the bottom two teams, with Plough just pipping it, 8-7.

Plough’s Ollie Powell won his first ever league game and James McGuire played a lovely combination shot, before potting the black for victory.

Even in these early stages the top two are pulling away, with Newbies five points ahead of Average Joes, who are five points in front of White Hart however, three points separate the remaining four teams, who have all won just one match.
