On the 7th of February there was a terrible house fire in Wallingon, Roundshaw. The fire started from unknown causes but was said to have been likely caused by a lit cigarette. Luckily the home owner was out at the time that the fire began but his one bedroom ground floor flat was badly effected by the wid flames. The fire was soon out of control and was beginning to reach the flat above when the fire bregade were called by a nearby neighbour. The owner of the flat above is Micheal aged 34, in an interview he revealed how he lives with his brother and was also luckily not home at the time of the outbreak. It's a miracle nobody was injured by this careless mistake but unfortunality the home owners's house was damaged almost beyond repair. The windows of the living area were smashed open in attempt to extinguish the flames and gain entry to the flat by the fire fighters. The best they could do for this poor man was to leave a note on the front of his door to inform him of the awful fire that he was unaware of.
The owner of the flat was unavailable for interview but his Micheal also revealed in an interview that he had recently returned from prison after being caught with a substantial amount of cannabis by the police. The house still remains in a dire state but there seems to be signs of life within it, the windows are boarded and the man hangs a dark sheet to hide the main living space.
Neighbours have made multiple complaints to the council due to the man's unsanitary living, there is broken furniture outside the mans flat, falling out into the public pavement and he now hangs an offensive sign on his door that reads 'Cannabis is love'. Let us be thankful that no one was harmed by the flames and that the Community of Roundshaw can recieve help from the council to prevent a future occurance.
