It has been reported that cherry blossoms in Japan have bloomed the earliest since 1812.
The peak date of the cherry blossoms this year is 26th March, the earliest known date previously was the 27th, recorded in 1409. Japan has extensive data on the dates of cherry blossoms blooming.
The records about the cherry blossoms go as far back as 812. In 2021, the season began in Hiroshima on 11 March, eight days earlier than the previous data set in 2004.
A large contributor to this occurrence is global warming. As the global temperature gradually increases per year, this triggers vegetation to bloom earlier as it gets warmer.
