Islamic Society at Langley Park School for Girls was started in November 2021, which allows students to freely talk about ideas relating to religion and Islam, open to people of all years whether muslim or non - muslim.
Every week we talk about a selected topic, so for example how culture can conflict with religion, or Feminism and Gender Equality in Islam. Students can then explore these topics and start discussions surrounding them, creating a comfortable, safe space for students to voice their concerns and ideas. with confidence.
In the future, we are hoping to organise events such as World Hijab Day, where students can volunteer to wear hijab for a certain part of the day, and also hold assemblies on this event, Eid and Ramadan, hopefully being able to collaborate with other societies such as Christian Society.
We are expecting this society to exapnd with time, and with that have a lot more students within the school that feel comfortable with their religious identity, and are more comfortable asking questions regarding their religion with other participants.
