Three categories, Thousands of entrants, and only one winner. The Classical Association‘s nationwide Creative Writing competition for writers and classicists of all ages.
The Classical Association Creative Writing Competition (CACWC) is a celebration of Stephen Fry’s recent appointment as the Classical Association’ Honorary President for 2021-22. As well as prize money and signed books, there is also the unique opportunity for one writer to have their story read and recorded by Stephen Fry himself!
Young writers from around the UK have the opportunity to let their creativity shine while writing for this national competition.
When Mr. Loudon, a teacher of Classical Civilisation at Croydon High School, was asked what he thinks about this competition and what it does for young people interested in the world of Greek mythology, he answered “As there is a renewed sense of interest in the ancient world, specifically in the myths of Homer and Greek Tragedy and particularly from a feminine perspective, this is a wonderful opportunity for pupils in both the Junior and Senior Schools to engage more closely with some of the greatest stories ever told.”
Rules:
- Entrants must be residents of the UK.
- You may only submit one entry into the competition, and it must be .
- All entries must be submitted in English.
- Your story must be an original piece of fiction.
- Entries that exceed the word count will not be considered.

- 12 to 18 - Heroes
- 19 and over - Troy
