Spooky season is over and now everyone is getting ready for the big event: Christmas!

It's that magical time of the year when our community transforms into a winter wonderland, with festive lights and the joyful melodies of the season. In this seasonal feature, we'll be your guide to all the must-see locations in our local area – from Christmas markets to the best light displays.

Kingston Christmas Market:

This riverside location is lit up every year by cosy cabins and unique stores. Named by VisitLondon as one of the top 11 Christmas markets in London this year, these artisan stalls are the perfect place to pick up secret Santa gifts or stocking fillers. This year, a new activity has been introduced: Bavarian Curling, a traditional German ice sport which is fun for all ages.

Teddington Lights up:
On the 23th of November, Teddington High Street will become encapsulated with Christmas spirit. Enjoy the sparkling lights, delicious food and a range of live entertainment. This is a personal favourite Christmas activity of mine, having gone since I was younger, it’s still great fun to visit with friends and enjoy the music. This year, don’t miss the performance by Canine Gymkana, an exciting young Indie Rock band.

Christmas at Kew:

If you haven’t had enough lights yet, come to Kew Gardens to enter a beautiful botanical garden made all the more captivating by the Christmas spirit. Because of high demand, it does require booking with timed entry. The trail is roughly 3 km long and can take 2 hours - or even longer if you are stopping every 100m to take photos of the magnificent scenery. But there is plenty of opportunity to get refreshments and let the kids blow off some steam at the fairground.

The Twickmas Event Trail:

And finally, the Twickenham ‘Twick’mas Event Trail; from the 24th to the 26th of November. Enjoy a series of live music, 3 tree light-ups, Santa’s grotto and an indoor Christmas market. The big switch on (the one you don’t want to miss) is on King Street at 6pm on the 24th. And for the kids, face painting from 4-7. Over the weekend, enjoy the “Have Yourself A Local Little Twickmas!” Xmas bazaar from 10am to 6pm on Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of November.

This holiday season, immerse yourself in the joy and wonder of our local festivities, creating cherished memories with family and friends amidst the Christmas cheer!
