The 2023 Formula One season was a historic one for Max Verstappen, who clinched his third consecutive World Drivers’ Championship title with a record-breaking performance. The Dutch driver won 19 out of 22 races, finished on the podium 21 times, and scored 481 points, surpassing the previous records held by Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton
Verstappen’s dominance was evident from the start of the season, as he won the opening race in Bahrain, followed by victories in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Miami, Monaco, Spain, Canada, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Qatar, United States, Mexico, and Brazil. His only defeat came at the Singapore Grand Prix, where he finished second behind Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr.scoring the first win of the season for Ferrarri who had a strong comeback season, as they finished third in the constructors’ standings with 412 points, ahead of Mercedes, who had 378 points. Ferrari also showed improvement in their engine and aerodynamics, which helped them challenge Red Bull Racing and Mercedes on several occasions.
The season was also marked by some notable changes and events, such as the introduction of new venues, such as Miami and Silver Las Vegas, the return of some old ones, such as Australia and Japan, the emergence of new talents, such as Zhou Guanyu and Liam Lawson, and the retirement of some veterans, such as Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen.
Oscar Piastri’s rookie season in 2023 was a remarkable one, as he proved himself to be one of the most talented and promising drivers on the grid. Piastri ended the season in ninth place in the drivers’ standings, with 97 points, making him the best rookie since Lewis Hamilton, who finished second in his debut season in 2007. Piastri also helped McLaren to secure fourth place in the constructors’ championship, with 212 points, behind Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes
