What is a farmhouse pizza and what makes it so special? Well as the name suggests, Farmhouse Pizza on 131 Stafford Road, Wallington, is one of 35 franchises that maintain the quality and construction of fresh and organic ingredients into a beautifully delicious piece-a-pizza, as well as having a wide selection of other Italian foods.
In particular, the franchise run in Wallington is run by the owner Farhad Baluch, who has an inspiring story to tell: 28 years ago, he came from Afghanistan with the wish to pursue dentistry as his career path. But since he didn’t have the qualifications in England to pursue that career path, he chose to build a business; inspired by his passion for making pizza from scratch with his brother as a child. I can tell that this story relates to some of you reading this right now, and Baluch shows us how even when you have to learn a whole new country’s language, culture and mannerisms to pay the bills in a foreign land, he says that you should “never forget where you came from.”
But now the question I’m sure your all thinking: why shouldn’t I just get my pizza from dominos or the nearest pizza hut? Well what makes Farmhouse pizza unique is the level of customer service it provides and the fresh heat of the pizza on the cardboard when its handed to you. When you talk to the owner and his family who run the business, it’s not just your typical standing around small talk conversation you have with the cashier as you impatiently wait for your pizza to come; instead, you feel like they really know you, and are genuinely interested about you as a person. And as for the pizza itself, the family that runs this franchise of Farmhouse pizza generously gave me the ‘Farmhouse special’ on the house, even after I offered to pay for it twice! But the pizza itself was irresistible (especially on a freezing typical day in the UK): cubes of chicken and sweetcorn and green and red bell peppers were swimming around in a layer of molten cheese, with pepperoni like a cherry on top. Even the crust itself had texture, which was slightly toasted to give it that variety, with it being crisp on the outside, soft on the inside (like me). Oh, and did I mention various flavours of a dip of your preference. So, you know I had to go with the classic garlic dip.
To conclude, you should definitely go check out Farmhouse Pizza on 131 Stafford Road (SM6 9BN), Wallington. There’s nothing to lose, and everything to gain, and they even have just eat delivery so you can order it from the comfort of your home! So next time, instead of getting that Dominos pizza, consider eating an authentic farm house pizza, from Farmhouse pizza.
