The Importance Of Sunlight In Our Daily Lifestyles

The sun's rays hold magical powers in them.

They can boost testosterone levels in men by almost 70%. Testosterone is significant for muscle growth and energy levels and increases mood.

Sunlight also keeps our circadian rhythm in check, this can prevent insomnia and fatigue.

It also can help reduce cortisol ( The stress hormone) and increase serotonin (the feel-good hormone) and this can help with mild depression or having a bad mood.

Nature's gift to us- sunlight has hundreds of other benefits, but for something this important in our lives, why is it missing from us Londoners' lifestyle?

Lack Of Sunlight

We are often stuck in our rooms, in an office building, a bus, or a car all day. It's shocking to realise this but some people haven't even been under the sun for more than 10 minutes today.

With winter coming and the nights getting longer, the days becoming shorter, and weather causing clouds and rain to cover the sun, we must try to spend more time in the sun.

Spending time indoors, staring at bright screens and artificial lights only harms us, in the short term and long term.

It is proven that children who spend more time tend to get myopia or short-sightedness.

Spending time in nature and outside could be the cure to that brain fog you feel, the stress from work, or even the sleep insomnia that you have.

but with work and school this struggle if often left ignored, so how can we address it?

How to get more Sunlight

Firstly you could spend a bit more time outdoors, maybe playing your favourite sport.

Or you could walk to your favourite coffee shop, work or even school.

When in a closed building, instead of shutting the blinds, open the window and stare outside occasionally.

And lastly, just be aware that the sun is always there, whenever you go outside, sitting by a window or even in your car, be a bit aware of its presence.
