After months of waiting, Ware Library has just opened its doors at its new site on Ware High Street, right in the centre of town.

It reopened on Monday the 14th October, relocating from its previous site opposite St Mary’s Church.

The library has multiple sections including non-fiction, fiction, audio books, local history, and a children’s area, where they run storytime sessions.

The library is closed on Thursdays and Sundays, however on Saturdays it is open from 10am-5pm, on Mondays and Tuesdays it is open from 10am-5:30pm, and on Wednesdays it is open from 2pm-5:30pm.

I was able to speak with a student, who was using the library, on their thoughts on the new site.

They mentioned that they plan on using the library “quite often in order to aid my research and my enjoyment of literature”.

I was able to follow this up by asking how they planned on using the library in more depth and they explained to me that they planned on using the library for “both for research for my A Level English Literature and History coursework and my EPQ”.

Since the library has moved further down the High Street, it has meant that “it is further away so it is a bit more inconvenient” for them, however they believed that the improvements had meant that “it’s worth it”.

The library is a spacious, quiet area with an abundance of books from all categories.

It also contains areas of seating in more shielded areas.

In addition, the library has some computers towards the back of the building.

Overall, the new site seems to offer a clean, welcoming space for visitors of all walks of life.

Compared to the previous library, the new site feels more open, which helps to create a calm and peaceful setting.

I appreciated the seated spaces that they have on offer, which are surrounded by bookshelves and therefore offer some privacy for those who may want to do some work or have a read.
