Could eating sweet treats count as a hobby? Or looking into a shop’s window because the pastries look unbelievably scrumptious. You may be wondering. Where are these delectable treats? Can I try them? Of course! Take a step into the breathtaking bakery known as. “Honey I’m home.” Rated 5 stars, Honey I'm home is a family run bakery on the High road of Woodford. In my spare time, I have visited the store so often that they might as well know my name! It is filled with delicious pastries, mouth-watering drinks and passionate owners.
The bakery is a hidden gem between fish and chips stores, pharmacies and corner stores. The colour scheme is a pale dark green which perfectly fits the ambience of the shop.
When you walk into the shop, you are greeted pleasantly with warm lights that compliment the wooden furniture and the beautiful pastries inside. On the side, opposite to the pastries, there are shelves filled with packets of savoury snacks which look almost as appetising as the baked delicacies.
Unfortunately I've only been able to go to the shop after school, when most pastries and desserts have been consumed. However, I have been lucky enough to try some delicious pastries, such as the pistachio eclair, the pistachio swirl, macarons, lemon tart, blueberry muffin, home-made dark hot chocolate and even a savoury toasted sandwich filled with avocado, chicken and more! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the store sold macarons as they had always been my favourite dessert and it was difficult to find them anywhere. After I had found out that they were sold there, you really couldn’t stop me from going! The macarons tasted splendid, with the soft crunch of the outside and the filling melted in my mouth like an exquisite rush of sweetness. The sandwich was perfect for me, as on that day, I was unable to get lunch. It was amazing. I had never tasted a sandwich as astounding as it had been, there was a contrast between sweet and spice and it continued to make my mouth water as I finished my first bite. From then on I would get different items often. It really is an addicting store with it’s calming and friendly atmosphere.
The owners of the store are also so kind. From my experiences, they always smile at me as soon as I enter and they excitedly recommend me to try various other pastries! It is amazing seeing people in their true elements and doing what they love! Just as a customer, it brings you so much joy!
