The ‘Pumpkin Parade’ at Garson Farm in Esher, which is running this October, offers affordable and festive family fun to anyone eager to experience an autumnal adventure, then stagger home under a ten-kilo fruit.

Visitors pick up wheelbarrows at the entrance (meant for pumpkins but often used for transporting small children, too) and stroll into the outdoor pumpkin patch.

The path winds whimsically through the patch, with numerous opportunities for photos of infants nestled among gourds twice their size and hundreds of potential jack-o’-lanterns, all grown on the farm, to choose from.

Inside the undercover tunnels, older children can challenge friends, parents or grandparents to games of athletic skill, including the ‘bean-bag throw’ or ‘boot-la’ (hoopla with a twist).

The ‘Wild-West’ themed corridor presents plenty more chances for an Instagram-worthy shot, featuring pumpkins in neckties, skeletons in jeans and even a wooden horse, so you can ride off into the sunset.

Oh, and let's not forget the Taylor Swift-themed exhibit, with one pumpkin tastefully adorned with a pink cowgirl hat and another three spray-painted pink and purple.

A small food truck near the entrance provides refreshments to hungry pickers, such as pasties, hot chocolates and the much-loved seasonal sensation: the pumpkin spice latte.

Entry is priced at £4 per person (children aged 0-24 months go free), and the pumpkins themselves are charged according to size (munchkin, small, medium, large and XL), with size and pricing guides placed around the patch so it's easy to keep track of the precarious pile in your wheelbarrow.

With activities for everyone from toddlers to older children, food and drink available on site, and a selection of countless pumpkins to carve or bake, grab tickets if you can until 1st November.

Otherwise make sure to pencil this spooky spectacle into your calendar for next year!
